First Responder Fly Guide
AirCare Activation Criteria
Patient in area inaccessible to ground EMS including 1st responders
or
- Neurological – Unresponsive to verbal and painful stimuli
- Airway – Artificial airway required
- Circulation – Uncontrolled hemorrhage OR lack of radial pulse in
non-cardiac arrest patient OR inability to obtain blood pressure
- Does not verbally respond
- Is not able to follow commands
- Trauma with difficulty breathing, RR<10 or >30, or flail chest
- Controlled hemorrhage and HR>120 or systolic BP<90
- Penetrating injury to head, neck, or torso
- Complete amputation above wrist or ankle
- Open fractures with other trauma
- Burns with associated trauma
- Unable to access patient with a major mechanism of injury:
- Pedestrian struck
- Falls >20 feet or 2.5x the patient’s height
- Ejection from motorized vehicle
- Death in the same vehicle
